Abomination of Desolation (Part 1)

When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)  (Matthew 24:15)

This Series:

3 Questions (Matthew 24:1-3)

I am Christ (Matthew 24:4-5)

Rumors of Wars (Matthew 24:6-7a)

Famines, Pestilence, and Earthquakes (Matthew 24:7b)

Just the Beginning (Matthew 24:8)

Wax Cold (Matthew 24:9-13)

The End (Matthew 24:13-14)

I took the following picture from one of my many commentary bibles I own called “The New Testament Recovery Version.”

For over 15 years, I believed that verse 15 referred to a rebuilt temple with Mr. Antichrist as the object of worship. I applied the same amount scripture as this commentary does to people around me who were curious about eschatology. Sadly, I was wrong.

“No one knows the length of time spanning the events mentioned in vv. 4-14.”

Yes and no. If you are a futurist, then no. At best, Christian futurists will play the guessing game based on current events surrounding them. You can’t accurately show me from scripture that Matthew 24 or any other prophetic scripture is for this time we live in. (2016) I believe I have proven in this series so far that everything has applied to the time frame of 30-70ad. Note: 1st century Christians did not know the day or hour, but the time frame due to what is found in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and other prophetic chapters. Please read my past posts. (Top of page)

For those who are futurists and if you have free time, please visit the following links. Try to view everything as if you were living during that time. Each century you could hype as “this is it!” Preterists believe it was all said and done in the 1st century. So we are not looking for anything. (Read my past posts to understand) Futurists in every century will hype the century they live in as “this is it!” Today’s futurists believe it will happen in our day (2016) or in the very near future.(2017,2018,2019,2020) When 2020 comes and goes, then we will hear rhetoric regarding 2030, 2033, 2040, 2050, etc…

The point? Lot of time wasted on something that is not going to happen.
